Postmedia Place Prepares for the Future of EV Charging
For Postmedia Place, a mixed-use complex in downtown Toronto, sustainability isn’t just a value, it’s a driving force behind every upgrade. As electric vehicle adoption grew among tenants and visitors, management recognized an opportunity to deliver EV charging solutions that enhance convenience while reinforcing the building’s leadership in sustainable operations.
“As we see EV adoption increase, we want to demonstrate that sustainability is something we live, not just talk about,” said Alaric da Cunha, General Manager, 365 Bloor Management Inc. “Alectra Energy Solutions made that possible.”

"With AES' expertise, we implemented a seamless, future-ready EV charging solution that enhances tenant convenience and reinforces our commitment to sustainability."

Collaboration and Planning
Alectra Energy Solutions (AES) worked closely with the property management team to develop a plan that balanced advanced technology, long-term reliability, and practical design. The project involved the installation of a new transformer, panel, and ten Level 2 chargers with sub-metering for accurate energy consumption tracking, helping Postmedia Place meet sustainability reporting requirements. AES also improved reliability by identifying a weak cellular signal in the parking garage and recommending a booster for consistent connectivity to the networked charging platform.
“This project is a great example of how thoughtful planning and collaboration can deliver long-term value,” said Ariel Bautista, Director, eMobility at Alectra Energy Solutions. “We simplify the transition to electrification by managing design, financing, and operational risks, which allows our customers to focus on their core business.”
Flexible, Cost-Free Implementation
From initial design to final commissioning, the project reflected strong collaboration between AES, 365 Bloor Management Inc., and the property owners. With AES fully financing the project and securing available funding, Postmedia Place advanced with a complete EV charging solution, requiring no upfront capital investment.
AES coordinated installation around active tenant operations, integrating the new equipment into the building’s electrical system while maintaining business continuity. Custom wayfinding signage, designed and produced by AES, will guide drivers to the chargers and reinforce the building’s commitment to sustainable transportation.
“Working with AES gave us confidence that the system would be fully managed and reliable,” said da Cunha. “Our tenants now have convenient, networked chargers, and the building is prepared for the future growth of electric vehicles. It’s a win-win for everyone involved.”
